Website Handicap Belgium

About the project

For Handicap Belgium, I built the frontend of their new website. And yes, for a project like this it’s perfectly fine to have imposter syndrome. This is the website in Belgium where accessibility matters more than ever.

During the briefing, “WCAG AAA” was thrown on the table. Every UI developer knows that WCAG AAA is pretty much impossible. But hey, I gave it a try. Did I actually succeed? Well, I hope so. But this is one of those rare projects where I can — a bit shyly — admit that I made it.

I’m sure the website still has plenty of issues. Issues I could probably spot today with the knowledge I have now. Issues I can’t (or am not allowed to) fix anymore — budget, hours, you know how it goes. Issues you might throw in my face with a: “Omg. Matthias. This is not accessible at all.”

Still, I’m proud I got to build this website. It was a tough process, but in the end QA was positive. (So technically, I could blame any current issues on QA? Not that I would!)
